I ran across Jill Bolte Taylor’s Ted speech a year ago. It fascinated me. I shared it with anyone that had 20 minutes to watch.
Jill is a Harvard brain scientist who experienced a massive hemorrhage in the left side of her brain from the perspective of a brain scientist. When her more logical, linear, mathematical, linguistic, egoist mind went offline, she experienced the true beauty of the right hemisphere of her brain. She saw first hand that everything is energy, that we have no physical boundaries and that we can choose what thoughts and emotions we have.
I highly recommend that you watch this video of her talk at the TED conference, and when you want to learn more, you can pick up her book: My Stroke of Insight. It delves into the science of the brain, the detail of how she experienced the stroke and her miraculous recovery that lead to some consciousness shifting discoveries. I will leave it at that as hearing Jill recount her experience is 100% more powerful that I can describe it.
